I would like to have a career in aircraft sales and leasing.?

I would like to have a career in aircraft sales and leasing. How do I break into this field? I have many years of sales and management experience, but none in this new field. How can enter this exciting field, and what can I expect to earn if I make it to the top? Thanks in advance. Also, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

1. Good luck - VERY tough business in this economy - most aircraft sales people are pilots - you need to be able to demo what you're selling...you can start at many different places - you can go right to the manufacturer (Cessna, Lear, etc) or go to your local airport to an FBO (Fixed Based Operator) and see where/if they sell/lease aircraft....if you don't have a pilots license, that's the first place to start... 2. I can only speak for the transport category side of things. There are many, many leasing companies out there, usually smaller companies. Basically, you know to know someone. We have a leasing division in our company, and the employees are usually people who have been around forever. If you don't know people in the large commercial aircraft industry and don't know anything about transport catergory aircraft and engines, you don't stand much of a chance. However, you could try starting out selling aircraft parts. AAR, Kellstrom, Avioserv, AirLiance Materials, GE Aviation Materials, Pratt & Whitney, Tracer Corp, Cirrus Aerospace, and Avsets are just some parts companies out there. This could all be different for general aviation aircraft, though.
3. Call Mooney Aircraft Co. in Kerrville TX., they are selling the hottest single engine aircraft in the country.. Good Luck!
4. Check out Cirrus, Mooney, or Cessna. Also I recommend you get at least a Private Pilot License so you can demo airplanes to customers.
