- Personally I think real estate is not a good place for a 19 year old. Buying a home is a serious and major purchase, the most important one for many people. They simply will not be comfortable trusting just an important decision to a 19 year old kid without an education. You don't know enough about investing and homeownership to help others make good choices. Even other kids want a mature person with some life experience to help them with what is very difficult process and decision.
- In some respects I agree with "Landlord". However, real estate is about niche markets, and you could specialize in selling to a group or a neighborhood that you know well. There is no better way to get experience and grow than to get right in it and do it. As you grow, so will your business. Please just plan on keeping your day job and working your business slow and from the ground up. Good luck to you.
- I am a Realtor in Oregon. It takes a few years to build up a clientele and to get enough referrals, etc. to make a decent living to support yourself. I would not recommend that you quit your full-time job to only be a Realtor. There are expenses involved for licenses, MLS access, etc. You might want to try working part time as a Realtor's unlicensed assistant to get an idea of how the business works.
