- Get it, it can't hurt. You can be an agent and you'll learn more about real estate. Go for it.
- It's good to learn what they teach but a very tough career to be successful at. Unless you have back up money to live off of for quite sometime..I would not recommend becoming a real estate agent.
- It can be difficult to predict whether one will be successful in any field of endeavor. Real Estate takes lots of hard work, dedication, a certain personality and creativity. Quite a few larger companies offer low-cost education and training in exchange for a commitment to work with them. Take a look at that option first. Check newspaper ads to see who is offering the free training and education in your area. If that isn't a possibility, try your local community college. Quite often you'll find courses offered there which are more affordable, especially if you research "continuing education".
- Get a real estate license if you are actually interested in real estate. There is more to real estate than just showing houses. Be prepared to work your business. Getting a real estate license does not ensure that you will get rich quick. Good luck!
- Do you have a lot of contacts? people who will buy and sale from you? Having your license will not automatically mean success are you able to work alone can you put in the hours of cold calls? Real estate is a hard market right now but if it is something your passionate about and you have the residual income to survive at least 6 mo's without a sale and are willing to work evening's weekends holidays, and have the money to pay for the MLS fees advertising fees cubicle fees if your going to work for a company and office supplies (paper for flyers) signs busines cards etc. go for it. Real estate is FUN
- I would suggest working as an assistant for a Realtor for a while to see if its something you would enjoy and be good at. I would not suggest just going into it right away in till you have six months of savings. It can cost you on classes, marketing, association dues, etc. It can take you six months to a year or more before you get a commission. Most agents drop out the first year not knowing how difficult it is. In fact there are very few that last past the 5year mark. Especially with market conditions the way they are, you shouldn't go into this being naive or hasty. Try and find out if its really for you.
